I am a molecular cell biologist focused on understanding the mechanisms underlying cell division.
I lead the Laboratory of Chromosome Biology at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in San Diego, and I am a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. My scientific achievements have been recognized by a Damon Runyon Scholar Award and by my selection for the Early Career Award from the American Society for Cell Biology. I am actively involved in multiple activities for the Cell Biology Society, including serving as the Program Committee Chair for the 2013 Annual ASCB Meeting. I also serve as an editorial board member for the Journal of Cell Biology and have contributed in numerous ways to graduate education at UCSD.
