I am a molecular cell biologist focused on understanding the gene networks and molecular mechanisms underlying cell division and development. We are also investigating how these mechanisms are utilized by cancer cells to determine whether targeting them could be therapeutically useful.
I am the Head of the Laboratory of Mitotic Mechanisms at Ludwig San Diego and a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. My scientific achievements have been recognized by a Pew Scholar Award and by my selection for the Women in Cell Biology, Junior Award from the American Society for Cell Biology. I am a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Cell Biology, direct the CMM/LICR seminar series and direct the core course for the Biomedical Sciences graduate program at UCSD.
