The Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and Keystone Symposia announced a joint meeting, titled Tumor and Host Metabolism: Integrating, Molecular Cellular and Systemic Interactions, to be hosted by the Ludwig Institute’s Branch at Princeton University on March 7-10, 2027. This is the first of a series of symposia planned by the two organizations—and hosted at each of the Ludwig Institute Branches—on topics of critical importance to cancer research. The current meeting is being organized by Ludwig Harvard’s Marcia Haigis and Ludwig Princeton’s Lydia Lynch. Its proceedings will revolve around the crosstalk between tumor and systemic metabolism, with an emphasis on how cancers exploit and engineer both to support their growth, thwart immune surveillance and resist therapy. Presentations and discussions will also cover how the metabolic health of the host influences these processes and how information gleaned from the metabolic chatter between tumor and host might be harnessed for cancer prevention and therapy. Finally, talks will address the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to extract useful information from the daunting mass of biochemical data typically generated by metabolomics studies. Ludwig Institute Scientific Advisor Karen Vousden of The Francis Crick Institute in London will be giving the keynote address. Other invited speakers include authorities on various aspects of cancer metabolism, metabolomics, the tumor microenvironment and immunology. Merit scholarships to defray the costs of attendance are available to qualifying applicants and the meeting welcomes submissions for small talks and posters on related research.
